Pembrokeshire Referees’ Society members (l-r) Phil John, Alan Buckfield, Nigel Jenkins, Ian Baxter (Treasurer), Dai Badger (acting Secretary), Jonathan Twigg (Vice Chairman), Helmut Reinhardt, Steve Williams, Adrian Harries, Dave Cole, Keith McNiffe The Pembrokeshire Referees’ Society enjoyed an enjoyable festive period when they took advantage of not officiating in the local leagues to attend a championship fixture at the Liberty Stadium.  Whilst the Swansea City v Crystal Palace fixture ended without a goal being scored members, their family and friends had enjoyable trip as they teamed up for a meal with colleagues from Swansea and Neath.

The Pembrokeshire whistlers were warmly welcomed by West Wales RA Secretary John Davies and Swansea Society Secretary Viv Nedin.  Jonathan Twigg, commenting on behalf of Pembrokeshire thanked Swansea City for providing tickets at such an excellent value, Motec (Haverfordwest) for supporting the occasion by helping provide transport and the two drivers, Helmut Reinhardt and Keith McNiffe. 

This is the second year where the Society has travelled to the Liberty Stadium and the agreeable company ensures names have already been inked in for the next trip.  Twigg further commented that the age ranged from children of 1 to grand-parents of 91, who all complimented the Society for organising the trip.

2010 is an important year for referees in Wales as the National Association breaks away from RAUK.  Pembroke’s Pedr McMullen is the stalwart chairman of the RA of Wales and his commitment to ensuring the smooth transition is recognised by members across the Principality.  To mark this memorable occasion the Pembrokeshire Society has initiated a fund raising endeavour, with the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales its intended recipient.  Further details will be made available shortly and the society encourages all football lovers in Wales to be involved in this worthwhile cause.  Further information can be made with Jonathan Twigg by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
