Phil Southall of Port Talbot took charge of the Welsh Cup Final on Sunday 4th May at Newtown. The 47-year old had not taken charge of the prestigious event before, but has been refereeing in the Top Flight for a number of years and has a wealth of experience.
Southall began refereeing in the Port Talbot League in 1974, aged 14. He progressed to the Welsh League list in 1979 and the Football Combination and Football Conference leagues in 1985. He has been involved in the Welsh Premier League since its inaugural season in 1992. |
